A Birthday surprise on Farewell Spit

A few days ago I took some friends on a quick visit to the Spit. Along the way we collected flotsam that had washed up.

One of them was a “Happy Birthday” Balloon. The photo shows Alex handing it to me. The funny thing about this was – It was actually my birthday.

(not telling which one).

It was well worth the early start as you can see by the Sunrise we saw from the Ocean Beach. Mt Taranaki even showed itself.
